Ball bearing fist lanyard with sinnet and skull topper...

I call this a 'skull knocker' lanyard/fob. The monkey fist has a 5/8" chrome steel ball bearing in the center for a little weight, round sinnet set above the fist, small pewter skull bead, and a hangman's noose for attachment to a knife, flashlight, or keychain.

*Note: ABoK #1863 has probably been the inspiration for this type design for many knot tyers, of a Turk's Head or Monkey's Fist knot with a sinnet and loop. The drawing for that one is actually showing a couple of ways to loop onto a ring, with the lanyard/fob used as an example.

When you tie the hangman's knot, how do you get it to stay in the exact position as shown in your picture? Won't it slip closed when pulled. Thanks.

If you tightly coil the cord when making the hangman's knot, all the friction of the coils will keep the loop in place until you slide it up or down. I usually put them on a key ring, slide the loop up and they always stay.

After making the knot, go back and work any slack out of the coils can tighten it up even more.

Thanks for your help. I'm new to lanyard making. Your lanyard work, instructions, and photography are inspiring.
