A 'braid knot' paracord lanyard...

I've made this type of paracord lanyard before for it's simplicity, and often use the one attached to my Leatherman Juice Pro.

The lanyard is made with one continuous five foot length of paracord, with lanyard knots and loops on both ends with a braid knot in the center. It's finished length is just over a foot long, so I can still use the knife/multi-tool/flashlight while it's still clipped to my belt loop, or remove it from the belt loop and clip it to itself for use as a wrist lanyard.

  1. How do you get the lanyard knot on the end of the braid? I see how to start with a lanyard knot, then braid, but I don't understand how you finished with the second loop and lanyard knot. Great work by the way.

  2. It can be done a couple of ways: 1. Make a lanyard knot at one end of the length of about a 5.5 foot length of paracord, so just one cord is just a stub coming out of the lanyard knot and the other is the remaining length. With that length, make a portion of that length into a braid knot so there's about 10 inches left of the single cord after the braid, and make another lanyard knot/loop on the end. or 2. Make a lanyard knot/loop on the end of the 5.5 foot length of paracord, then about 10 inches down from that, make another lanyard knot/loop, and with the cord between the lanyard knots and the longer cord coming out of the second lanyard knot, make a braid knot down between them.

  3. That is awesome! I mean I've lost quite a few knives so this would definitely help me. Besides, it's pretty. Keep up the good work, I'm really enjoying checking out all your old posts.

  5. How do you make the braid knot? Looks like a 2 strand weave but can't find any examples.

  6. @MAD 69, Here's the Animated Knots site example link for tying the braid knot. Looks like the page I had linked in the post is no longer there, so I'll replace it with the good one.
