Hey Stormdrane. Sorry this isn't about this post's (even though I will be giving it a go :D).
I want to do a lanyard with a Square Stitch like on some of yours, but I can't work out how to get a loop on the end to hook it onto something. Do you start with the loop then do the Stitch? I'm really confused...:)
If you're referring to the 'square sinnet', look thru the older posts for the video I made showing the 'round sinnet'. Starting with the loop is the same. =)
There's a good description and chart about paracord(parachute cord) on Wikipedia.
I've bought from many different sources over the last few years and received a range of different paracords, from actual military surplus, to commercial grades, and imported types.
For consistent good quality, and made to mil-specs cord, I've trusted the Supply Captain for most of the paracord I've used. I also occasionally get some from Brigade Quartermasters and a local Army/Navy store.
And for the best glow-in-the-dark cord, although not actual paracord, it's good strong cord and works great for knotting projects, go with Cool Glow Stuff.
Hey Stormdrane. This watchband looks great! I have a larger G-shock watch. It has a band that's about 3/4". Can this work for a wider watchband? Thanks!
As long as there's enough room for the strands to fit thru the pins and the body of the watch, it should work . The woven section is wider than the five strands going under the watch.
Hi I made your paracord bracelet and it came out so great. would like to try king cobra stitch but how do i start it over bracelet and is it same stitch only spread out wider thanks
The bracelet on this particular blog post isn't the 'cobra stitch'. If you want to do the 'king cobra' over a 'cobra stitch/Solomon bar/Portuguese sinnet', you can get the basic idea of the second set of knots from this lanyard tutorial. There's also a few links to photos for the 'king cobra' stitch in the comments section of the instructables tutorial, March 16, 2007(I think).
Thanks once again. You are so kind to respond so quickly to questions. Im going to try the king cobra stitch. I hope it comes out as great asto original bracelet.
Stormdrane, I found this watcband on instructables and just finished making my own. Not perfect, but pretty good for a first try. I added a slight modification, I crossed two of the strands over the watch face as a protector.
Could you do a viedo on making this as a bracelet? I've tryed using the YouTube and instructables examples but I am still having trouble getting it right
Those look really nice.

ReplyDeleteStormdrane, general question about paracord. I have seen type I, II III and VI paracord, I think. Can you tell me the differences? Thanks in advance..

The reflective tracer type paracord can be found at One Stop Knife Shop.

ReplyDeleteWhat is the size of the buckle that you use for the band? Thanks.
ReplyDeleteI used a 5/8" ITW NEXUS side release buckle(contoured) from ebay.

ReplyDeleteDo you think this could be adapted for a belt?
ReplyDeleteSure, it'll work as a belt, rifle sling, shoulder strap, etc...
ReplyDeleteYou can see a longer example on Ranger Rick's website.
