Spindle Fiber Bar Paracord Watchband...

The 'Spindle Fiber Bar' is one of the ties shown by JD of Tying It All Together in his new book, 'Paracord Fusion Ties - Volume 1: Straps, Slip Knots, Falls, Bars, and Bundles'.

I followed the book's instructions to learn the basics of the pattern, which JD(TIAT) shows being tied as a two color paracord bracelet with a knot and loop closure, but I used a single strand of black 550 cord with a 5/8" side release buckle for the watchband.

Since the pattern is the type with two working strands around two core strands, it's attached to the buckle as many other bracelet and watchband variations are started and adjusted for size, then the sequence of tying the Spindle Fiber Bar is done, with the cords going under the centered watch, continuing on the other side, then finishing by tucking the ends on the underside of the tie and trimming to finish.

And a few other recent projects of tying some knot work around tactical pens with 0.9mm cord, with a long 4 bight Turk's head knot, Gaucho knots, and ringbolt hitching...

  4. @capnklump, The tactical pens all came from various sellers on ebay, inexpensive models that will also take a Fisher Space Pen refill. ;)

  6. @Scot, Blogger did have a limit on how much space was allowed for content, but I don't know if it's still in place. That's why I have a habit of reducing image sizes from the larger originals.

Like tying, I don't want to get burned out on blogging by doing it too much or too often. Even taking lots of photos then editing them can seem like work sometimes, so I don't take pics of everything I make either, lol... ;)

  8. @Anonymous, 'Tactical' pens are built sturdier than cheap common everyday pens, and besides being a writing instrument, can also serve as a self defense tool.

Training is available for folks that want to learn to use a 'Yawara' or 'Kubaton', and some people EDC(everyday carry) a 'tactical' pen to be prepared should the need arise to use one in that manner.

Others just like the way the pens look and feel and carry/use them as they would any other pen, pocket knife, flashlight, etc...

  10. Why do I keep popping out the little watch bars when I'm trying to make a Paracord watch band ? I'm a making it to tight or ?

  11. @Juan, It may be that you are putting too much pressure on the pins of your watch with the paracord, or it just might be the particular watch you are using.

You could try and see if leaving a little bit of slack in the cord, where it goes over the pins and under the watch, corrects the problem.

I haven't had that happen with the watches I've used, so I couldn't say for sure what the solution would be in your case...
