45 face globe knot...

I followed this tutorial (originally shared through the IGKT France site, but the links changed) to try tying a 45 face globe knot, with 1.4mm nylon cord.

I first tied it around a magic marker, making 3 passes, then slid it off and gradually tightened it around a 3/4" wooden ball. It's attached to my Victorinox Tinker with a multiple overhand sliding knot/scaffold knot, for use as a lanyard/fob.

The few globe knots(variations of turks head knots) that I've tried tying, can be tied in hand with a bit of patience. For those with some knot experience that want to try more elaborate globe knots, you might check out the Globe Knot Cookbook Kit at knottool.com.

And another one tied with paracord, with a 1.25" foam ball core, used as a key ring fob...

And a YouTube video showing how to tie the multiple overhand sliding knot/scaffold knot, for attachment.

Pale Horse Fighters Model 13...

I recently received this Pale Horse Fighters Model 13 knife from knifemaker Paul Granger.

*Blade 4.6" x 0.156"440C @ 57RC
*G-10 handles
*Overall length 9.6"
*Camo kydex belt sheath with Tek-Lok

I made a wrist lanyard for it, that would fit through the knife's hollow handle pins, with some black 1.4mm nylon cord, in a 3 strand braid with Matthew Walker knots on each end, adding a sliding wooden bead with a turks head knot(globe knot) over it. The '18 face' knot was linked by demuredeamonor in the previous blog post's comments. I believe I'd also seen them linked on KHWW.net or IGKT.net forums too.

Planet Earth Globe Knot, ABoK #2216...

This knot, found in 'The Ashley Book of Knots' as knot #2216, forms the shape of an oblate spheroid. Geoffrey Budworth calls it the 'Planet Earth' knot in 'The Complete Book of Decorative Knots', because of it's shape.

The diagrams for the knot, from both books, can be found linked online here(ABoK #2216) and here(TCBoDK). There's another tutorial for this knot on the KHWW.net website.

I used 3/32" diameter CoolGlowStuff cord(similar in size to paracord) to tie the knot on a flat surface, making 4 passes, then shaping it around a 1.25 inch diameter foam ball, and tightening/working the slack out. There's about 9 feet of cord used in the tightened knot with the core size I used. This one'll make for a large key chain fob or maybe a pull for a ceiling fan...
