@Tracy, Because the cord overlaps itself with the zigzag method leaving small spaces/gaps, I think it does hold a little less cord than straight spooling, but considering the amounts I've used with 20 to 40 feet of cord, the difference would be negligible.
Zigzagging the cord is necessary on spools without end caps, where trying to straight spool it wouldn't work, because the cord would fall off the sides. ;)
Another knot tying friend mentioned using this method with fishing line on a spool, because it keeps the cord from digging in between other wraps when under tension, and tangling up.
@Stormdrane Ah. Ok. Was trying to see the purpose as I see some spools at stores zig-zaged and others straight spooled. Will have to give it a try. Thanks for the video.
Couldn't see the video on your blog but i looked it up on youtube and watched the full 7+ minute video. I prefer the full vid. I also looked at ur instructable but still couldn't see the vid there eather but there's alot of vids on there i cant see from others too. I must have something set wrong. But nice video and i'm throwing you a vote for the contest. Good luck and keep on tieing.
Hey stormdrane. I love looking at all your things you have made! I have a like page on facebook with all my paracord creations and would like to know your opinion on them thanks. http://www.facebook.com/?ref=home#!/pages/Big-Dog-Survival-Bracelets/172684286080383

Does zig-zag spooling hold more paracord or unroll easier than straight spooling?
