I used Type I paracord and a small marble, 5 turns in the fist. It's about the size of a cheese puff.

Paracord belt, shoulder strap, gun sling, dog collar, etc...

This is a paracord belt I've started working on. I haven't finished it yet.
It's started with 4 strands of paracord, find the middle of each cord and loop them onto whatever type of attachment point/buckle you'll be using so that now you have 8 strands of cord to work with.
 Make two cobra stitches with the outer 4 strands, then one cobra stitch in the center(I have all mine the same, not alternated-seen as the center olive drab stitches). Just continue knotting the two outer, then one center, two outer, one center...
Aside from a belt, this might also work for a wide paracord bracelet, guitar strap, shoulder strap for a bag, or a wide dog collar for the big dawgs out there, and I'm sure others will have other ideas for uses, one someone mentioned as a gun sling.
I'm not sure how I'll finish it yet. Sometimes I spend hours trying things out and end up taking them apart and trying other ideas. This might end up like that, but I like the idea. I was going to try a "Slatt's Rescue Belt", but got frustrated with it and tried this instead.

Sometimes when I have shorter pieces of paracord left over from something, I try to figure out what to do with them.
I wasn't sure what I'd do with this, so I put it over my door knob and added a 'Do Not Disturb' sign to it.
Red, white, and blue 3-strand crown plait paracord keychains.
 I tied the same number of knots in both, the difference is that I removed the inner strands of the paracord from the one in fron(gutted)t.
 The larger used 5 feet of cord in twelve knots where the smaller used 4 feet in twelve knots.
 I started them with a simple overhand knot, just tighten it slowly to keep the cords from getting twisted/tangled and start tying from there. I added a split ring and did a couple more knots, trimmed and melted the ends, and that makes a nice fob for the keyring.

Here's a paracord dog leash in Crimson Tide colors..

Braided Paracord Dog Leash

Here's a 6 foot long navy blue and orange 4-strand diamond braid "Auburn Tigers" paracord dog leash.

I used 40 feet of paracord(20 ft navy blue and 20 feet orange). Find the middle of the cords, attach to a snap hook(you can find the snap hooks at Wal-Mart in the hardware section), and start braiding down from there.

Braid enough past 6 feet for the wrist strap and finish with a square sinnet, trim and melt the ends. I use about a foot or so of paracord to bind(whipping type binding, trim and melt the ends) to the main part of the leash for a wrist loop.

I pulled the thermometer off of an old keychain and put it with this compass. I used five feet of paracord and a swivel clip.

The thermometer is showing about 5 degrees warmer than what a couple of others I compared it with showed, so I'll just have to remember that for the accurate reading.

For the dogs...

I made this 6 foot long dog leash using the diamond braid. It took about 40 feet of black and neon green paracord to make it. I didn't have a snap hook, so I took the trigger snap off an old chain wallet and used it instead.

Braided neck lanyards...

I've tried making a few more paracord neck lanyards and I'm starting to get the hang of them. If you want a nice professionally made one, check out Widgnwhackers custom made lanyards.

Here's a couple Auburn Tiger flavored neck lanyards I made for some 'War Eagle' nuts in the family. One in the diamond braid and the other my first attempt at the 5-strand plait. The Book of Decorative Knots by Peter Owen has some great diagrams on 'how to' tie various decorative knots.

Paracord neck lanyards...

Here are a couple of neck lanyards I made using 4-strand plaits(black/olive done in diamond braid, black/gray done in spiral braid). The Ultimate Encyclopedia of Knots & Ropework by Geoffrey Budworth has a good section on how to tie these and other braids.

 These can take awhile to make. I found myself messing up and having to untie and retie it several times until I had it the the way I wanted it. Patience is helpful when learning.

Flashlight twist wrap

I used 6 feet of type I OD green paracord to twist wrap this AAA LED light.

And the method shown using paracord over a Maglite 2AA flashlight.

After each couple of knots are tied, push/twist the work up towards the previous knots and keep tension on the cords to keep it all tight.

Spyderco Salt I with thin Type I paracord(foilage green, from the Supply Captain) wrist strap. The thin diameter of the cord means more work when tying and can be hard if you have large hands. I used about 14 feet of cord in the wrist strap. If you use a knife, multi-tool, or flashlight around a boat, dock, up a ladder, on a roof, rock climbing, etc... a wrist strap could help keep you from losing it if dropped.

Koppo stick flashlight paracord grip


Two-finger paracord flashlight grip. I gutted and used around 5 feet of cord to make this cobra stitch/Solomon bar/Portuguese sinnet grip. You can still use the hand without having to put the Maglite down.

There are other variations of this type of grip for a 2AA flashlight if you look for them online. The light can be used like a Koppo stick with this type of grip.

Adjustable paracord flashlight grips...

After making a couple of flashlight paracord grips and posting photos here and on a few forums I'm a member of, someone asked if they're adjustable.

The first ones weren't since they were tied right onto the flashlights. I made a couple more of them that are adjustable so they'll fit D cell and C lights. Here's what they look like and a quick 'how to' on attaching them.

 I put the loop end on the tail end of the light and double it up. Then I pull on the cordlock end with one hand and slide the grip part down onto the light to tighten up that end. I remove the cordlock, and wrap the cords around the head end of the light two or three time until theres just enough cord left to pull thru the cordlock, pull the ends thru the cordlock and tighten it up. The cordlock end sits at the head of the light and the loop end can be slid closer or farther from the head to adjust the size of the hand grip.

On a side note, I was looking on ebay for a C cell light and saw that someone had just put up their own version of this grip on a light for sale. That's cool with me, I'm all about sharing ideas. If ya see someone selling something handmade with paracord, buy it. Considering the time and costs in making things with paracord, most paracord junkies don't usually profit from our hobby, we just get enough to buy more cord and accessories to play with.

Paracord flashlight grip...

I just tried this idea today, of a flashlight paracord grip. It's actually made similar to a paracord bracelet. Loop the center of your cord around one end a couple of times, come down the length you want the grip, loop around the light a couple more times, then start knotting.

The maroon paracord is on the 3D cell Maglite and the black/olive drab is on the 2D cell light. I use about 15 feet of cord to make one. It can be slid on/off, but is tight enough when on, that it won't come off on it's own.

One of my blog readers was looking for ideas for a paracord grab handle on his Jeep's roll bars, and I suggested the flashlight grips might work well for that application...
