Luggage handle wrap...

I used a length of neon paracord to wrap the handle with a 16 lead 3 bight Turk's head knot on this piece of luggage. It makes it easier to identify your own bags when among so many other similar ones at the airport.

There's also a diagram for tying this knot in 'The Complete Book of Decorative Knots' by Geoffrey Budworth.

*The links to the KHWW site no longer work since that website is gone, so I've removed them and updated this post with a link to my video tutorial for the long 4 bight Turk's head knot, which starts off with the long 2 bight knot, and either of those will also work for a nice handle wrap on a bag/pack/luggage.

Another great idea! Did you tie that one directly on the handle?

It was tied directly onto the handle, which was a bit awkward, but still manageable.

I've seen a few examples of folks trying cobra stitches over gym bag and backpack grips, but hadn't seen anyone do it with a Turk's head though.

SD, I love checking out your site and I have learned how to make a lot of cool stuff but lately you only seem to do Turks heads! I am a little scared of the Turks head, looks complicated (bights and leads?!?) and I haven't even looked into yet. You need to do something simpler that I can handle! More lanyards and bracelets and stuff! Seriously, awesome site, keep up the good work.

Buzzkill, the Turk's Heads aren't as hard as you think. I was completely baffled by them until Stormdrane posted his video tutorial. Watch it a follow, step by step. You just have to take the plunge and try it.

Very nice TH Stormdrane. That must have been very fiddly to tie right on to the handle.

Hi Stormsdrane, I've started my own similar blog over at http://thebigbight.blogspot.com There's not much original work there and it's not quite up to your standard. I link to your blog in some posts. I hope you don't mind.

What a great and different idea. We went on a trip with 49 family members this summer and I quilted them each a different handle cover. this one is so unique...love it!

Love The Site. Have gotten some great ideas, But I was wondering if you have seen or know where to find a vid tut for a "Matthew Walker” knot. Tried to tie one for awhile but just keep getting an “Explosion In A Spaghetti Factory”. Any help would be great.

Thanks for the tut now i can add one to the worn grip of my favorite fishing pole.

Used your tut to fix up my ultra-lite fishing pole Thanks.

Here is the finished product

It looks good on the fishing pole! :)

I believe there was a thread about Matthew Walker knots on the KHWW website in the forums, and there might be more on it in the tutorials section there.

I unscrewed the handle from my bag and spray painted it with bright red paint for plastics. Then I screwed it back on (this was the !@#$%^& frustrating and nearly impossible part... My wife just has a bright pink Samsonite.
