Updated medic alert paracord bracelet

I tried again with adding my medic alert tag to a Conquistador paracord bracelet, this time using #95/type I paracord to lash it down.

I coiled the cord around one side of the tag, then pulled both ends down through the olive drab colored bracelet with hemostats.  Next running both strands along the underside of the bracelet, then pulling them back up through the bracelet with the hemostats and coiling them around the tag's other side, and tying off the ends in a square knot tucked under the tag.

It seems like it'll stay in place, time will tell...

I tied another for Pa and will have to dig through the gadget drawer to see is I have another buckle and some navy blue cord to make one for Ma.

A Conquistador bracelet and medic alert fail...

I tied a Conquistador bracelet yesterday with the intention of adding my medic alert tag to it.

The bracelet came out alright, finished with a knot and loop closure, but my attempt with 0.9mm string in adding the tag came out looking terrible to me, lol.

The thin diameter black string pretty much disappears to my poor eyesight, offering no contrast against the black 550 paracord, so it looked like a blind man tried to do it, which one did.

My camera can focus on the work and I see it better when it's up on my desktop computer screen, so there was an audible, "Nope!", if anyone had been listening, and I removed the tag and string work from the bracelet.

I'll figure something out and try again, probably using a side release buckle for the next bracelet and maybe larger #95/type I paracord to stitch on the tag, or maybe do a two-piece bracelet with the tag, like a watchband...

The Conquistador braid is shown in Bruce Grant's Encyclopedia of Rawhide and Leather Braiding, I think it was pages 42-43 thereabouts.  There are also multiple tutorials on YouTube if you want to give a bracelet or watchband version a try.

Back to spool knitting...

It's been a while since I'd made a spool knit lanyard, using type I/#95 paracord (navy blue).

It was more difficult than it used to be, especially finishing the ends with the smaller diameter cord and my vision problems (legally blind)..

I did the lanyard knot and loop at one end, and still had cord left, so went over that with a doubled 5 lead 4 night Turk's head knot which didn't look right to me after tightening, so I continued over that with a herringbone knot.

Most of that was done under my magnifying floor lamp and my patience was wearing thin, lol, so the other end of the lanyard got a simpler treatment attaching to the swivel snap hook...

Knife shown is a Victorinox Mountaineer with orange g10 scales that I bought from Swissbianco.  The edc flashlight is a JetBeam Jet-1 MK.  Timex Expeditition watch on a black nylon zulu band with a luminous Suunto Clipper compass (because even though I'm legally blind I still have some ocd need to know which direction I'm facing as I sit in a doctor's office waiting room, lol)...

New scales..

I bought some orange g10 scales, from Swissbianco, to replace the old worn original cellidor ones on my 91mm Victorinox Mountaineer Swiss Army Knife.  I also received a new set of his ribbed light green alox plus scales, that have a place for a straight pin and a slot for the ink pen in addition to the toothpick and tweezer slots.

I tied a couple of herringbone knot fobs to attach to the pocket knives, one in neon green and the other in neon orange paracord.

When the new scales arrived in the mail I was a bit impatient about about installing them and used the first adhesive that I had handy, being a Gorilla Glue.

But, after clamping and waiting for the glue to fully cure (24 hours for each scale - doing one side at a time) I found the 'flexible' nature of the Gorilla Glue meant that I could peel the new scales right off the knives using just my fingernail, oh noes, lol.

So, I ordered some J-B Weld epoxy, that Roger mentions for best results in his video, and used that for attaching the new scales on both knives, after cleaning/peeling off the failed Gorrila Glue adventure...
